TONIGHT ON PANORAMA - GIMME SHELTER - 8.30PM ON BBC ONE Hello there, GIMME SHELTER A broken promise has caused frail and elderly people to take to the streets in protest. They say they were assured sheltered housing would come with a residential warden, but now the wardens are being taken away and they are making their objections known. Panorama's Vivian White meets those who have taken to the streets and are even taking legal action to save their wardens. Watch Vivian's summary of his findings on the Panorama Website. Panorama: Gimme Shelter is on BBC One, Monday 24 August at 8.30pm. WHAT ARE WE FIGHTING FOR? Last Monday's Panorama saw us revist Afghanistan ahead of presidential elections. Reporter Jane Corbin went to see what, if anything, has changed for women living there almost eight years after the Taliban were ousted. Jane met young girls forced into abusive marriages and heard inspiring stories from women at the forefront of pushing for greater equality between the sexes, including a female MP and a businesswoman turned reality TV star. If you missed the programme you can watch it on the Panorama Website. There you can read more about the issues raised in the programme including how one women's rights campaigner confronted President Karzai's wife over her lack of public profile. You can also read about one man's plea to be released from prison after he was initially sentenced to death for downloading an article on women's rights. That is all from us for this week, and some advanced notice that Panorama is off-air for the August Bank Holiday Monday, but you can always keep up to date with us on our website.
