NEXT PANORAMA - MONDAY 8.30PM ON BBC ONE

Hello,

Apologies if you missed us on Friday - our weekly update was scuppered by a last minute change to the schedule as all hands were on deck to produce a programme on the MPs' expenses row. We hope to be back in your inboxes on Friday as we return to normal.

We're now into the third week of revelations of just how taxpayers' money is being used by MPs in expenses claims. In Is your MP working for you?, reporter Shelley Jofre examined how else our representatives can make money through the system without breaking the rules.

Could the expenses row mark the start of a series of even more embarrassing revelations about life as an MP as the public's appetite for transparency grows?

If you missed the programme you can watch it on the BBC iPlayer.

And there's more on the story on the Panorama website.

MARGARET HAYWOOD WILL APPEAL

Nurse Margaret Haywood, who secretly filmed care for the elderly for a Panorama film broadcast in 2005, is to appeal the decision to strike her off the nursing register.

Last month the Nursing and Midwifery Council found her guilty of misconduct during a fitness to practice hearing.

Panorama: Who'd Be A NHS Whistleblower? looked at the impact the decision to strike Margy off could have on future whistleblowers. It is certainly a decision that affected our viewers. Hundreds of well-wishers contacted us after the programme to offer Margy their support.

If you missed the programme and would like to catch up, you can on the Panorama website.

BACK IN THE NEWS

Last week the mother of Baby P along with her boyfriend and former lodger were sentenced for causing or allowing the toddler, now known as Peter, to die.

Baby P's mother was given an indefinite sentence along with lodger Jason Owens. She will serve a minimum of five years and Owens three.

The mother's boyfriend was sentenced to 12 years over Peter's death and given life for raping a two-year-old girl. He will serve a minimum of ten years.

Panorama investigated the catalogue of errors in the care of Baby P by those who came into contact with the toddler in the months before he died.

In Baby P - The whole truth?, reporter Alison Holt revealed further mistakes made by Haringey social services who were responsible for the care of Peter.

If you missed the programme you can watch it on the Panorama website.
