JONATHAN EDWARDS ON INDOOR ATHLETICS
I have got big expectations ahead of the Aviva Indoor Grand Prix in Birmingham as the undisputed queen of athletics, Yelena Isinbayeva, is in town.

She arrives fresh from Donetsk where she set her 26th world record in the pole vault last week and I wouldn't bet against her beating it again on Saturday.

And this meeting has a habit of seeing world records broken, with 11 being set in the past 11 years.

Olympic 400m champion Christine Ohuruogu is competing in the 200m and we really shouldn't expect too much from her.

She's entered the event to help improve her leg speed which is perhaps a little slower than her main rivals.

Sanya Richards has the capacity to run times in the low 22 seconds over 200m and Christine feels she needs to improve her raw speed if she is to stay at the top and get an edge.

It is a shame Dwain Chambers won't be competing in the 60m as he has been in such impressive form, but it will be fascinating to see who out of Craig Pickering, Tyrone Edgar and Simeon Williamson can secure the other qualifying spot for the European Indoor Championships in Turin in March.

I will be interviewing the new head coach of UK Athletics, Charles van Commenee, during Saturday's broadcast and the subject of Chambers' continuing rehabilitation following his drugs ban will be a hot topic of discussion.

I'm also keen to hear Charles' views on what state he thinks UK athletics is in right now.

The World Championships are in Berlin this year and the last time they were in Germany, in Stuttgart in 1993, we had three world champions and won 10 medals in total.

Sixteen years on things are very different, does he think we can expect a return to the glory days?

Enjoy the weekend,

Jonathan
