Creating a sculpture The step-by-step process of creating a sculpture. It all starts with a spark of inspiration, which can happen at any time. Only when they have a vision can the sculptor begin. It may take a few versions before they have created what was originally only in their mind.Once the sculpture has been perfected, it can be recreated for sale. Some sculptures are limited editions with perhaps as few as 5 ever made.
The perfect marble Our white marble comes from the north of Vietnam. It is a beautiful stone to work with. In a finished piece, the crystals measuring as much as 8mm are clear to see. They reflect sunlight with a bright clear light.
Virgin marble with visible crystals
We work our marble exclusively by hand and with hand held machines. As demand for Vietnamese sculpture has increased during the country's recent economic development, factories have opened that make mass-produced sculptures. The quality of these sculptures is poor and you might say it is a waste of this beautiful natural material.
There is a finite amount of marble in the world. It should be respected and worked by professionals with high standards. The mass-production sculpture factories use low-paid workers to carve the statues and instead of polishing by hand (a slow process) they pour acid over the sculpture to smooth the surface. This destroys the crystals and the natural properties of the marble. The acid washes into the ground, polluting the soil, killing plants and enters the groundwater. That's not development.
By contrast, we take great pride in our work and use the techniques handed down through thousands of years, combined with modern machines to speed the process. Our sculptures are hand-polished with a series of graded sand papers.
Our sculptures bring out the beauty in white marble and will be enjoyed for centuries to come. Discover
