NEXT PANORAMA - SHOULD WE BE SCARED OF RUSSIA? - MONDAY 8.30PM

A newly invigorated Russia is flexing its muscles on the international stage.

With Russian bombers resuming training flights over Europe, their military dealing a battering to the West's ally Georgia and growing concern about region's energy resources, is a return to the bad old days of the Cold War on the cards?

Mark Franchetti talks to members of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's inner circle to understand what the Russians are thinking and the consequences for the rest of us. You can read more about Monday's upcoming programme on the website.

BRITAIN IN THE RED

It's been something of a fast-paced couple of weeks here in the Panorama office - for the third time in a month we've found ourselves putting out a new or changed programme with less than a week's notice.

Last night's live special, Britain in the Red: Your Questions Answered, sought to tackle the queries we've received from you over the last few weeks.

Many of you've been asking about the status of your savings with Kaupthing Edge after they were taken over by ING Direct. We asked ING for a statement and we've published their response here.

As Jeremy Vine quizzed a panel composed of figures from the world of finance, including Sir Alan Sugar, Dr Ros Altmann, Stephen Timms, Will Hutton and explained the situation the country now finds itself in, you were getting in touch with your own questions.

We received more than 2,000 emails and over 1,300 text messages to the programme - an incredible response from you all.

Sally Magnusson read some out; Robert Peston answered a choice few and we plan to put a selection of them online too. So a big thank you for getting in touch. We quite simply wouldn't have been able to make this programme without your stories, questions and comments.

A RESPITE FROM SATS?

Earlier this week, Education Minister Ed Balls announced that SATs tests for 14-year-olds were to be scrapped following the troubles over the summer. However, tests for 11-year-olds will remain.

Panorama covered the issue of SATs in Tested to Destruction back in May, amid concerns that the tests place too much pressure on pupils and place too much emphasis on league tables over education. You can watch the programme again in full in our archive.

BYE FOR NOW

That's all for this week. You can keep up to date with what's happening on the programme on our website.
