NEXT PANORAMA - OBAMA AND THE PITBULL - MONDAY 8.30PM

A NATION OF BANKERS

As members of the highly discerning Panorama audience, it will not have passed you by that all is not well in the global economy...

Indeed it is unlikely that the doom and gloom in the financial markets can have passed anyone by, as every day seems to bring a new financial disaster.

Even after PM Gordon Brown changed Britain from a nation of shopkeepers into a nation of bankers this week by committing £400bn of taxpayers' money to shore up our banks, the FTSE 100 continued to plumb new depths.

IS THE SKY FALLING?

So what on Earth is going on? And what will happen next? Are we all doomed and facing the misery of a recession in which millions of people will be thrown out of work? Or has pouring the equivalent of a third of our entire economic output into the banking system allowed us to avoid economic Armageddon?

On Thursday 16th October Panorama will attempt to answer those questions in an hour-long live programme on BBC One at 8pm.

GRILL THE EXPERTS

In Britain in the Red - Your Questions Answered, we will meet people already suffering as a result of this turmoil and delve into the new reality which each and every one of us is facing.

Central to this special programme will be a panel of experts giving their thoughts live on what can be done to ease the crisis and most importantly what will happen next.

And this is where you come in. You have the chance to question our experts.

SEND US YOUR QUESTIONS

You can tell us what you would like to know right now by going to our website and clicking on the Money Worries link.

Or you can ask a question or make a comment as the programme goes out live on Thursday night by going to our website between 8-9pm.

There you will find details on how to e-mail or text in your message.

We will try to put as many of your queries as possible to our panel in the course of the programme.

SAVAGED BY A PITBULL

A large portion of the Panorama team has of course been diverted to working on Thursday's live special to ensure that we cover all of the concerns foremost in your minds.

But never fear, this doesn't mean that you aren't going to get your usual Monday night serving of Panorama!

In this week's programme, Obama and the Pitbull, with just weeks to go before the US presidential election Panorama travels to two very different Americas, Barack Obama's political home in South Chicago, and the crucial battleground state of Ohio.

We will reveal how the inexperienced Senator rose from nowhere to the threshold of the White House only to be stopped in his tracks by an even more unlikely contender, Sarah Palin, the self-style "Pitbull in lipstick".

Obama and the Pitbull will be on BBC One on Monday 13 October at 8.30pm.
