NEXT PANORAMA - HOW THE ECONOMY GOT PERSONAL - MONDAY 8.30PM BBC ONE

Hello again,

SECOND SIGHT

This week we start with some good news, as on Wednesday there was new hope for sufferers of wet age-related macular degeneration in England, the leading cause of sight loss in the UK.

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) said that it would start funding Lucentis, a drug treating the disease.

The drug is already available in Scotland, while Wales and Northern Ireland has agreed to fund it, but NICE had orginally told patients in England that they should wait until they went blind in one eye before getting Lucentis.

The decision came just over a week after Panorama flagged up the fact that some people with wet AMD were being denied access to Lucentis because of a NHS Postcode Lottery, whereby the treatment patients get varies according to where they live.

C DIFF DIFFICULTIES

Another health story was also hitting the headlines this week as a rise in deaths from the hospital bug Clostridium difficile was revealed.

The National Office for Statistics said that the number of deaths involving the superbug in England and Wales rose by 28% between 2006 and 2007.

Panorama reported on the rise of this hospital-borne bug in April with the programme House Safe is Your Hospital?

You can find out more about Sally Magnusson's report and the superbug which experts say is killing the equivalent of one person every hour in our hospitals here.

PRIDE OF BRITAIN?

This week's Panorama True Brits was an examination of what Britishness is and why the government is suddenly so keen to drum up national pride.

The programme evidently touched a nerve, with hundreds of you e-mailing in to tell us your views both of Britishness and of the programme itself.

We read your comments with great interest and you can read a selection of them here.

HOT TIPS

As we have told you before we really appreciate receiving your e-mails sharing your thoughts on the programme and the issues that we cover.

But we are keen for your input to go further than that, so if you have any ideas or tips which you think we can use for future programmes please drop us a line at panorama@bbc.co.uk and remember you can speak to us in confidence at any time by simply putting the words "in confidence" in the e-mail subject heading.

WHAT'S IN YOUR WALLET?

This Monday's programme, How The Economy Got Personal, has been driven by input from you from the start.

Central to our research on the credit crunch was an online questionnaire which thousands of you took the time to fill out.

Your answers give a fascinating snapshot of how the current economic climate is affecting people on the ground, so many thanks for your help, and don't forget to watch the programme at 8.30pm on Monday on BBC One.

The full results of the questionnaire will also be put up on our website on Monday.

ALL IS NOT LOST

But if you do miss the programme you may still be able to see it, as license fee payers in the UK can watch the programme for the next seven days via the BBC iPlayer.

After that you can watch any programme for 12 months via the archive pages on our website but you must be a UK resident to do that.

BYE FOR NOW

That's all for this week, but remember you can always keep up to date with what's happening now and watch all of this year's programmes via our website www.bbc.co.uk/panorama
