ROB WALKER ON THE WORLD MASTERS DARTS
The Winmau World Masters is a tournament that most of the big names in darts have won.

Eric Bristow has the most wins with five, but from the very first time the tournament graced the annual darts calendar in 1974, it has produced great champions and enthralling matches.

Of course I'm also hugely looking forward to meeting and working with Bobby George.

The man is obviously a great character and was a great player in his prime.

A check of his records told me that he reached the semi-finals of the Masters back in 1979, so hopefully we'll have some banter about that 30-year anniversary!

As for who can win, I couldn't possibly guess at this stage, but there are some great guys to watch out for.

Tony O'Shea lost in the World Championship final against Ted 'The Count' Hankey in January, but the Silverback arrives at Bridlington as world number one and favourite.

He's reached a number of high-profile finals and always fallen at the final hurdle, so I suspect a win for him would be a very popular one with his fellow players and the crowd.

So too would a promotion from runner-up to winner for Scott Waites.

The support for him on the arena floor last year was immense and his fiancé almost fainted with nerves for him as she watched him lose that Sunday afternoon duel 7-6 to Martin Adams!

World champion Hankey seems to be a man you have to keep an eye on in any major event and this is one he's yet to win either.

The list could go on, but I'll finish by saying I can't wait for it all to start.

Let's play darts!

Rob Walker presents coverage of the Winmau World Masters on the BBC.
